This week I have added UK "wet garlic" to the veg

This week I have added UK "wet garlic" to the veg boxes as a little treat.
Lovingly grown at Trinity farm in Nottingham, UK.

The wet garlic I find it has a milder and nuttier flavour than mature garlic.

I love to use it in mayonnaise, finely chopped over salads or in an omelette or scramble.

If you have tried it before and have any other ideas of how it can be used, please let me know in the comments. 🧄

I started Boxed Green Co in Nov 2020 and for obvio

I started Boxed Green Co in Nov 2020 and for obvious reasons we were all stuck indoors. I posted regularly plant based recipes that could be created from the veg boxes. I received many kind comments at this time to write my own recipe book.

Fast forward 18 Months later and I have am so excited to say I have done just that! 📖 Go Green, Live Green, recipes from Boxed Green is now available on my website to be purchased alongside a veg box delivery.

My recipe book contains 19 delicious recipes, beautifully illustrated and easy to follow.

The asparagus has been delicious chard in a hot pan (no oil) bunched carrot top pesto, salad turnip pickle, rhubarb compote and not forgetting the delicious varities of UK grown organic tomatoes. The purple sprouting broccoli was a welcome sign that spring was on its way and now it is in abundance!

Spreading the love this week @boxedgreenco 💚 with a seasonal herb called lovage.

I was so intrigued to try it as you don't see lovage sold in most shops.

It's muted tones of celery and parsley which blends nicely in Mediterranean dishes. I am going to make it into a pesto in the place of basil for a refreshing change.

I usually wait until #aspargusday to post about asparagus 😂 but I can't wait until the 24th May! as it is in season now!

The arrival of asparagus puts a spring in my step as it is really starting feel like the season has changed.

Asparagus tips can be cooked in many ways. Steamed/roasted. I love "toasted" asparagus in a dry hot pan (no need for any oil) and sprinkle with salt, delicious 😋

CHIRAMOYA (custard apple) is in the fruit bags this week.
A creamy dessert apple. Sweet, soft and custardy.
I tried one for the 1st time today and I have to say it is delicious!

Spit the seeds out they are not edible. The seeds are the same size as melon seeds so easy to spot.

Wait until the CHIRAMOYA is soft and ripe. Tear them apart and scoop out the flesh and remove the seeds.

Ripen at room temperature. The skin should have some give under pressure.

Best eaten as soon as the custard apple is ripe, the flavour is more intense.
